Το 2012 ο βρετανός τραγουδιστής και συνθέτης Mike Rosenberg aka Passenger κυκλοφορεί το 4ο studio άλμπουμ του. Μετά την διάλυση της μπάντας του το 2009 δυο περίπου χρόνια μετά την κυκλοφορία του πρώτου του άλμπουμ, ο Mike Rosenberg κρατάει το όνομα γιατί όπως είχε δηλώσει για το συγκεκριμένο όνομα “I think it fits my observational style of writing...the idea that you’re in the passenger seat of a moving vehicle…watching the world go by and witnessing things of people’s lives…” και συνεχίζει να γράφει μουσική.

Τα τραγούδια έχουν όλα κάτι να προσέξεις. Είναι έτσι γραμμένα που δεν θες να σταματήσεις σε κάποιο. Αυτά που ξεχωρίζουν είναι το Things That Stop You Dreaming, το Staring At The Stars, το υπέροχο All The Little Lights, το Holes και το Patient Love ιδιαίτερα η acoustic version. Ένα απ’ τα τραγούδια που έκανε μεγάλη επιτυχία είναι το Let her Go. Μ’ ένα εξαιρετικό στίχο και μια πολύ όμορφη μουσική το Let Her Go τον κάνει επισήμως γνωστό και κερδίζει στα Independent Music Awards 2013 για την κατηγορία Best Folk/Singer-Songwriter Song. Τα δικά μου πολύ αγαπημένα είναι αναμφίβολα το Let Her Go που ακούω ασταμάτητα τελευταία, το Feather On The Clyde στο οποίο λατρεύω την φωνή του, το The Wrong Direction και το πραγματικά μοναδικό I Hate-που συμφωνώ ΑΠΟΛΥΤΑ με τους στίχους του.

And I hate them magazines, aimed at insecure teens

That make ten year old's race to grow up

Η παραγωγή του άλμπουμ είναι πολύ καλή. Ο Rosenberg-εκτός του ότι έχει γράψει όλα τα κομμάτια-συμβάλει και στη παραγωγή. Φτιάχνει πολύ όμορφες μελωδίες της indie pop, indie folk και κάποια στοιχεία indie rock και χρησιμοποιεί αρκετά ακουστικά όργανα όπως πολύ όμορφα έγχορδα, κρουστά, ένα υπέροχο banjo, μια εξαιρετική τρομπέτα για να συνδυάσει με τον πραγματικά εξαιρετικό του στίχο.

Ο Rosenberg γράφει ένα μοναδικό στίχο...πραγματικά μοναδικό. Γράφει απλά με humor κάποιες φορές αν και τις περισσότερες φορές είναι αρκετά καταθλιπτικός, ο Rosenberg είναι γεμάτος συναισθήματα και δεν φοβάται να τα γράψει έτσι όπως ακριβώς τα αισθάνεται. Η φωνή του είναι πολύ καλή. Προσωπικά την λατρεύω. Είναι ότι ακριβώς θέλεις να ακούσεις σε τέτοιου είδους κομμάτια και σε μαγεύει με κάποιο τρόπο έτσι ώστε να θες να ακούσεις όλα τα κομμάτια ολόκληρα.

Το άλμπουμ έφτασε την πρώτη θέση στο US Folk Albums, την 3 στο UK Albums και την 26 στο US Billboard 200. Το άλμπουμ έχει πουλήσει περίπου 1,500,000 αντίτυπα παγκοσμίως.

Εν κατακλείδι, το άλμπουμ είναι πραγματικά εξαιρετικό. Ο συνδυασμός φωνής, μουσικής και στίχου είναι πραγματικά άψογος. Παρόλο που ο στίχος αναμφίβολα είναι το δυνατό του κομμάτι δεν σε απογοητεύει σε κανένα τομέα. Απ’ την πρώτη στιγμή που ακούς το πρώτο κομμάτι μέχρι και το τέλος “κολλάς” και δεν καταλαβαίνεις πότε πέρασε η ώρα και τέλειωσαν τα κομμάτια. Ο Rosenberg γράφει μουσική για να μοιραστεί τις σκέψεις του και τα συναισθήματα του και όχι για να μαζέψει φαν κι είναι πραγματικά κρίμα το ότι οι περισσότεροι δεν τον έχουν ακούσει καν. Εξαιρετική δουλειά.
